Why Buy From Comtalk?

Avaya Lucent 507B Sneak Current Protector (107435091, 700393366) is designed to provide sneak current protection for analog trunk circuits connected to compatible Avaya Lucent telecommunications systems. The 507B helps protect media gateway equipment against potentially damaging low-level electrical currents that may enter through outside telephone facilities. Proper circuit protection is especially important for off-premises trunks, telephone lines, and terminal installations.

Avaya Lucent 507B Sneak Current Protector (107435091, 700393366) Features

The Avaya Lucent 507B Sneak Current Protector provides an important component of a complete telecommunications circuit protection system. Incoming analog trunks require protection between the RJ21X or RJ2GX network interface and the media gateway. Both overvoltage protection and sneak current protection must be considered when installing circuits exposed to outside facilities.

  • Manufacturer: Avaya Lucent
  • Model: 507B Sneak Current Protector
  • Part Numbers: 107435091 and 700393366
  • Primary Application: Sneak current protection for analog trunk circuits.
  • Media Gateway Protection: Helps protect compatible telecommunications equipment from potentially damaging electrical currents.
  • Incoming Trunk Protection: Designed for use in installations requiring protection between the incoming network interface and media gateway.
  • 25-Pair Connections: The Model 507B fuse panel contains two 25-pair connectors.
  • Fuse Capacity: Accommodates 50 sneak current fuses.
  • Installation Space: Each column of sneak fuse panels requires approximately 8 inches (20 cm) of horizontal wall space.

Electrical Protection Requirements

Telecommunications circuits extending outside a building may be exposed to hazardous electrical conditions, including lightning-induced voltages, power induction, and excessive current. A complete protection arrangement must address both overvoltage conditions and sneak current hazards.

  • Analog Trunks: Use the Avaya Lucent 507B Sneak Current Protector or an equivalent device. Overvoltage protection is normally supplied by the local telephone company.
  • DS1, E1, and T1 Circuits: Require isolation from exposed facilities through appropriate equipment, such as a Channel Service Unit (CSU), Line Interface Unit (LIU), or equivalent protection.
  • Analog Telephones: May require 146 Series Line Protectors or equivalent devices providing combined overvoltage and sneak current protection.
  • DCP and ISDN-BRI Terminals: Use the appropriate low-voltage version of the 146 Series Line Protectors or equivalent protection.

Fuse Panel Configuration

The Model 507B sneak current fuse panel is recommended for analog trunk sneak current protection. The documented panel configuration includes two 25-pair connectors, one fuse removal tool, 50 model 220029 sneak current fuses, and two spare fuses.

Important: The documented fuse panel configuration should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every accessory is included with a refurbished unit. Confirm the supplied fuses and accessories before ordering.

Safety and Installation Requirements

Sneak current protectors rated at 350 mA and 600 volts must be UL listed for installations in the United States and CSA certified for installations in Canada, as applicable. Installation should follow the relevant Avaya documentation and electrical safety requirements.

The 507B provides sneak current protection and does not replace the separate overvoltage protection required for exposed telecommunications circuits.
