Avaya 397C1 Power Supply is designed to provide power management and battery charging functions for compatible Avaya telecommunications equipment. The battery charger is used in installations operating without an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and incorporates important functions for maintaining battery backup operation during an interruption of commercial AC power.
The unit includes a DC-power relay designed to switch the batteries into the power circuit when a main power failure is detected. This allows the associated battery system to provide backup power when normal AC input power is unavailable. The integrated circuit breaker provides protection for the cabinet’s AC input and also serves as the main AC input disconnect switch.

Circuit Breaker
The circuit breaker protects the AC input power supplied to the cabinet. If a problem develops, the circuit breaker automatically trips and removes the AC power input. It also functions as the main AC input disconnect switch for the associated cabinet.
Battery Charger
The batteries are maintained through trickle charging from the battery charger. Following an AC power outage, when normal AC power is restored, the battery charger converts the 120 VAC input to the DC voltage required to recharge the batteries. Under normal conditions, battery recharging is typically completed within approximately 24 hours.
